Abstract

A computer system comprises a memory and a processor coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to parse a first communication according to a policy to determine metadata, comprising a first set of attributes, associated with the first communication; compare the first set of attributes to attributes of a plurality of communication devices; identify at least one recipient communication device from the plurality of communication devices for the first communication based on the comparison, wherein at least one attribute of the at least one recipient communication device causes the policy to inhibit the at least one communication device from receipt of communications; override the inhibit based on an attribute of the first set of attributes and application of a voting system of the policy; and responsive to the inhibit being overridden, deliver the first communication to the at least one identified recipient communication device.

Claims (27)

1 . A computer system comprising:

a memory; and

a processor coupled to the memory and configured to:

parse, by the processor, a first communication according to a policy to determine metadata associated with the first communication, wherein the first communication is sent by a first communication device, wherein the metadata comprises a first set of attributes, and wherein the policy dictates rules for use and storage of the metadata;

compare, by the processor, the first set of attributes to attributes of a plurality of communication devices which are associated with an observation platform that is associated with the computer system;

identify, by the processor, at least one recipient communication device from the plurality of communication devices for the first communication based on the comparison, wherein at least one of the first set of attributes matches one of the attributes of the plurality of communication devices, and wherein at least one attribute of the at least one recipient communication device causes the policy to inhibit the at least one communication device from receipt of communications based on an availability status of a particular user associated with the at least one recipient communication device;

override, by the processor, the inhibit based on an attribute of the first set of attributes and application of a voting system of the policy indicating a tally of matching attributes of the at least one recipient communication device outweighs a tally of inhibiting attributes of the at least one recipient communication device by a predetermined threshold amount, wherein each of the matching attributes and each of the inhibiting attributes has an assigned value in the voting system, and wherein the respective assigned values are stored in the memory and tallied by the processor; and

responsive to the inhibit being overridden, deliver, by the processor, the first communication to the at least one identified recipient communication device.

2 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive a second communication from the at least one identified recipient communication device;

parse the second communication according to the policy to determine second metadata associated with the second communication;

identify the second communication as a response to the first communication based on the second metadata; and

relay the second communication to the first communication device in response to the identifying the second communication as the response.

3 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein subsequent communications from the first communication device are relayed by the computer system only to the first communication device.

4 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein a characteristic of the first communication corresponds to an audible source.

5 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein a characteristic of the first communication is converted from speech to text and the text is parsed for the metadata.

6 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein a characteristic of the first communication corresponds to information indicative of a geographic position of the first communication device.

7 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the metadata does not identify a user associated with either the first communication device or the at least one identified recipient communication device.

8 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the policy is programmable.

9 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the policy is dynamically

changeable during operation of the computer system.

10 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first communication is received by the at least one recipient communication device in substantially real time.

11 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first attributes of the metadata are selected from the group of attributes consisting of: a unique message identification number, a group identification number, a geographic location of the first communication device at time of the first communication, a geographic zone, a timestamp of when the first communication was generated, an identity of the first communication device, an identity of a user associated with the first communication device, data from a text portion of the first communication, and data related to a history of communications sent and received by the first communication device.

12 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the identification of the at least one recipient communication device is accomplished based on a match of an attribute associated with both the metadata of the first communication and the at least one recipient communication device.

13 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the identification of the at least one recipient communication device does not match an inhibited attribute.

14 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the identification of the at least one recipient communication device overrides an inhibited attribute based on an override attribute.

15 . The computer system of claim 1 , wherein the first communication is automatically generated in response to one of a predetermined event and an action.
