IC TAP with IR select output and controller enable input
A TAP linking module ( 21, 51 ) permits plural TAPs (TAPs 1 - 4 ) to be controlled and accessed from a test bus ( 13 ) via a single TAP interface ( 20 ).
1. An integrated circuit comprising:
A. functional circuitry;
B. a test data in lead, a test clock lead, a test mode select lead, and a test data out lead; and
C. test access port circuitry including:
i. a data register having an input coupled to the test data in lead, connections to the functional circuitry, a first control input, a second control input, and a test data output;
ii. an instruction register having an input coupled to the test data in lead, a control input, a control output connected to the first control input of the data register, a select output, and a test data output;
iii. a multiplexer having a data inputs coupled to the data outputs of the data register and the instruction register, a control input, and an output coupled to the test data out lead; and
iv. state machine circuitry having an input coupled to the test clock lead and control outputs connected to the second control input of the data register and to the control input of the instruction register, the state machine circuitry including gating and multiplexing circuitry having an input coupled to an enable lead and an input coupled to the test mode select lead.
2. The integrated circuit of claim 1 including second functional circuitry and second test access port circuitry including:
i. a second data register having an input coupled to the test data in lead, connections to the functional circuitry, a first control input, a second control input, and a test data output;
ii. a second instruction register having an input coupled to the test data in lead, a control input, a control output connected to the first control input of the second data register, a select output, and a test data output;
iii. a second multiplexer having a data inputs coupled to the data outputs of the second data register and the second instruction register, a control input, and an output connected to the test data out lead; and
iv. second state machine circuitry having an input coupled to the test clock lead and control outputs connected to the second control input of the second data register and to the control input of the second instruction register, the second state machine circuitry including second gating and multiplexing circuitry having an input coupled to a second enable lead separate from the enable lead and an input coupled to the test mode select lead.
3. The integrated circuit of claim 1 in which the state machine steps through states of SELECT-DR, CAPTURE-DR, SHIFT-DR, EXIT1-DR, PAUSE-DR, EXIT2-DR, AND UPDATE-DR.
4. The integrated circuit of claim 1 in which the state machine steps through the states of TEST LOGIC RESET and RUN TEST IDLE.
