Abstract

A system and method for user notification regarding detected events is provided. A plurality of messages are accessed from one or more sources. Those of the messages associated with one or more potential events are identified. The potential events are detected based on the messages. At least one of the potential events is identified as an event based on a number of messages associated with that potential event. Metadata regarding the event is extracted by from the messages associated with the event. Information regarding the event is obtained from a third party different from the one or more sources of the monitored messages. A message regarding the event is generated, the generated message comprising the extracted metadata and the information. At least one user associated with the event is identified, wherein the at least one user is notified of the event using the generated message.

Claims (59)

1. A system for user notification regarding detected events, comprising:

at least one server connected to an Internetwork and that is configured to:

access a plurality of messages from one or more sources comprising one or more additional servers interfaced to the at least one server;

identify those of the messages associated with one or more potential events;

detect the one or more potential events based on the messages;

identify at least one of the potential events as a detected event based on a number of messages associated with the at least one potential event;

extract metadata regarding the detected event from the messages associated with the detected event;

obtain, from a third party, information regarding the detected event by at least one of:

gathering the information from a website associated with the third party via the Internetwork; or

requesting the information from the third party and receiving the information in response to the request;

generate a message regarding the detected event, the generated message comprising the extracted metadata and the information; and

identify at least one user associated with the detected event, wherein the at least one user is notified of the detected event using the generated message.

2. The system according to claim 1 , further comprising:

a call center comprising the at least one server and configured to initiate a communication with the at least one user, wherein the generated message is provided to the at least one user during the communication.

3. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the generated message is provided via at least one of the Internetwork, a Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), one or more cellular phones, or one or more satellite phones.

4. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the generated message is a voice message, the at least one server being further configured to generate the message by one of:

prerecording the message; or

delivering the generated message as a part of a script executed under a control of an agent of a call center interfaced to the at least one server.

5. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one server further is further configured to:

receive a communication from the at least one user; and

request the at least one user to indicate whether the at least one user initiated the communication regarding the detected event, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the indication.

6. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the messages are social network messages, the at least one server being further configured to:

collect data associated with social network users who posted the social network messages associated with the detected event; and

compare the collected data with data associated with the at least one user, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the comparison.

7. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the messages are social network messages, the at least one server being further configured to:

determine a location associated with the at least one user;

determine a location associated with the detected event; and

compare the location associated with the detected event with the location associated with the at least one user, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the comparison.

8. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the messages comprise one or more of voice messages and e-mail messages.

9. The system according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one server comprises a processor, memory, input/output ports, network interfaces, and a non-volatile storage.

10. A method for user notification regarding detected events, comprising:

accessing, by an at least one server interfaced to an Internetwork, a plurality of messages from one or more sources comprising one or more additional servers interfaced to the at least one server;

identifying, by the at least one server, those of the messages associated with one or more potential events;

detecting, by the at least one server, the one or more potential events based on the messages;

identifying, by the at least one server, at least one of the potential events as a detected event based on a number of messages associated with the at least one potential event;

extracting, by the at least one server, metadata regarding the detected event from the messages associated with the detected event;

obtaining, by the at least one server, from a third party, information regarding the detected event by at least one of:

gathering the information from a website associated with the third party via the Internetwork; or

requesting the information from the third party and receiving the information in response to the request;

generating, by the at least one server, a message regarding the detected event, the generated message comprising the extracted metadata and the information; and

identifying, by the at least one server, at least one user associated with the detected event, wherein the at least one user is notified of the detected event using the generated message.

11. The method according to claim 10 , further comprising:

initiating, by a call center comprising the at least one server, a communication with the at least one user, wherein the generated message is provided to the at least one user during the communication.

12. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the generated message is provided via at least one of the Internetwork, a Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), one or more cellular phones, or one or more satellite phones.

13. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the generated message is a voice message and wherein generating the message comprises one of:

prerecording the message; or

delivering the generated message as a part of a script executed under a control of an agent of a call center interfaced to the at least one server.

14. The method according to claim 10 , further comprising:

receiving, by the at least one server, a communication from the at least one user; and

requesting, by the at least one server, the at least one user to indicate whether the at least one user initiated the communication regarding the detected event, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the indication.

15. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the messages are social network messages, the method further comprising the steps of:

collecting, by the at least one server, data associated with social network users who posted the social network messages associated with the detected event; and

comparing, by the at least one server, the collected data with data associated with the at least one user, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the comparison.

16. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the messages are social network messages, the method further comprising:

determining, by the at least one server, a location associated with the at least one user; and

determining, by the at least one server, a location associated with the detected event; and

comparing, by the at least one server, the location associated with the detected event with the location associated with the at least one user, wherein the at least one user is identified as associated with the detected event based on the comparison.

17. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the messages comprise one of voice messages and e-mail messages.

18. The method according to claim 10 , wherein the at least one server comprises a processor, memory, input/output ports, network interfaces, and a non-volatile storage.
