Abstract

Systems, methods, and apparatuses for providing optimization of network resources. The system is operable to monitor the electromagnetic environment, analyze the electromagnetic environment, and extract environmental awareness of the electromagnetic environment. The system extracts the environmental awareness of the electromagnetic environment by including customer goals. The system is operable to use the environmental awareness with the customer goals and/or user defined policies and rules to extract actionable information to help the customer optimize the network resources.

Claims (42)

1. A system for spectrum utilization management in a wireless network comprising:

at least one network slice of the wireless network;

a Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) layer associated with the at least one network slice; and

a wireless network resource optimization application in the MEC layer including at least one data analysis engine for analyzing detected signal information from a radiofrequency (RF) environment;

wherein the detected signal information includes a center frequency and bandwidth of at least one signal;

wherein the at least one data analysis engine is configured to obtain statistical information and analyze possible interactions based on the center frequency and the bandwidth of each signal to create analyzed data; and

wherein the wireless network resource optimization application is configured to optimize the network resources of the wireless network based on the analyzed data and a customer goals index vector of binary values;

wherein each binary value of the customer goals index vector represents whether or not a specific piece of the detected signal information is relevant to satisfying customer goals.

2. The system of claim 1 , wherein the network resources of the wireless network are configured to be optimized based on a quality of service (QoS) required by at least one application.

3. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one network slice is administered by a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO).

4. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one network slice is operable to be occupied by at least two tenants.

5. The system of claim 1 , wherein the at least one network slice includes a radio access network (RAN).

6. The system of claim 1 , wherein the MEC layer is configured to provide for optimization of physical layer resources for applications based on environmental conditions.

7. The system of claim 1 , wherein the MEC layer supports cloud computing for the at least one network slice.

8. The system of claim 1 , wherein the MEC layer provides traffic steering to route traffic to targeted applications in the at least one network slice.

9. The system of claim 1 , wherein slicing architecture of the MEC layer is based on a plurality of factors including geographic scope, specificity of services, flexible architecture, and/or implementation of MEC applications as part of a slice access point.

10. The system of claim 1 , further comprising an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) is configured to aggregate resources for applications and services requiring special physical layer parameters.

11. The system of claim 1 , wherein the system is configured to perform network slicing to create the at least one network slice based on a network function virtualization (NFV) management and orchestration (MANO) architecture.

12. The system of claim 1 , wherein the wireless network resource optimization application utilizes a constraint vector.

13. A system for spectrum utilization management in a wireless network comprising:

at least one network slice of the wireless network, wherein the at least one network slice includes a radio access network (RAN);

a Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) layer associated with the at least one network slice; and

a wireless network resource optimization application, in the MEC layer, including at least one data analysis engine for analyzing detected signal information from a radiofrequency (RF) environment;

wherein the detected signal information includes a center frequency and bandwidth of at least one signal;

wherein the at least one data analysis engine is operable to obtain statistical information and analyze possible interactions based on the center frequency and the bandwidth of each signal to create analyzed data;

wherein the wireless network resource optimization application is operable to use the analyzed data and a customer goals index vector of binary values to optimize network resources;

wherein each binary value of the customer goals index vector represents whether or not a specific piece of the detected signal information is relevant to satisfying customer goals.

14. The system of claim 13 , wherein the network resources of the wireless network are configured to be optimized based on a quality of service (QoS) required by at least one application.

15. The system of claim 13 , wherein the wireless network resource optimization application utilizes a constraint vector.

16. A method for spectrum utilization management in a wireless network comprising:

providing at least one network slice of the wireless network;

providing a Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC) layer associated with the at least one network slice;

providing a wireless network resource optimization application, in the MEC layer, including at least one data analysis engine;

the at least one data analysis engine analyzing detected signal information from a radiofrequency (RF) environment;

wherein the detected signal information includes a center frequency and bandwidth of at least one signal;

the at least one data analysis engine obtaining statistical information and analyzing possible interactions based on the center frequency and the bandwidth of each signal to create analyzed data; and

the wireless network resource optimization application using the analyzed data and a customer goals index vector of binary values to optimize network resources;

wherein each binary value of the customer goals index vector represents whether or not a specific piece of the detected signal information is relevant to satisfying customer goals.

17. The method of claim 16 , wherein the network resources of the wireless network are configured to be optimized based on at least one rule and/or at least one policy defined by requirements associated with at least one customer and/or a quality of service (QoS) required by at least one application.

18. The method of claim 16 , further comprising the MEC layer providing for optimization of physical layer resources for applications based on environmental conditions.

19. The method of claim 16 , further comprising selecting suitable network slice instances for user equipment (UE) and/or applications.

20. The method of claim 16 , wherein the at least one network slice includes a radio access network (RAN).
