Abstract

A substrate loading device having a frame, a cassette support, and a user interface. The frame is connected to a substrate processing apparatus. The frame has a transport opening through which substrates are transported between the device and processing apparatus. The cassette support is connected to the frame for holding at least one substrate holding cassette. The user interface is arranged for inputting information, and is mounted to the frame so that the user interface is integral with the frame.

Claims (39)

1. A substrate loading device comprising:

a substrate transport container support connected to the frame for holding at least one substrate transport container, the substrate transport container support comprising

a cover covering at least a portion of the substrate transport container support on which portion the at least one substrate transport container is seated, the cover having a resiliently flexible section that is dependent from a covering surface of the cover,

at least one detector for detecting a presence of the at least one substrate transport container on the substrate transport container support, and

a protruding member connected to and protruding from the resiliently flexible section of the cover to move as a unit with the resiliently flexible section, wherein the resiliently flexible section is configured to position the protruding member relative to the at least one detector so that the protruding member cooperates with both the at least one substrate transport container and the at least one detector so that a presence of the protruding member is sensed directly by the at least one detector so that the protruding member, positioned by the resiliently flexible section, is directly sensed by the at least one detector and protruding member detection directly sensed by the at least one detector causes the at least one detector to detect the presence of the at least one substrate transport container, in contact with the protruding member, on the substrate transport container support.

2. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the resiliently flexible section is resiliently deflected when the at least one substrate transport container is supported by the substrate transport container support.

3. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one detector is connected to the cover.

4. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one detector is an optical detector.

5. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one detector is mounted on a printed circuit board covered by the cover.

6. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one detector comprises a sensor residing on a printed circuit board.

7. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the cover is a unitary member made of plastic.

8. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the protruding member is an interrupter member for an optical detector.

9. The device according to claim 1 , wherein deflection of the resiliently flexible section moves the protruding member for effecting detection of the at least one substrate transport container on the substrate transport container support.

10. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the cover has a pair of slots formed therein defining the resiliently flexible section.

11. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the resiliently flexible section is an elongated cantilever.

12. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the resiliently flexible section and protruding member are integral to the cover and the cover is a unitary member.

13. The device according to claim 1 , wherein the at least one detector is arranged so that the at least one detector cooperates with at least one information pad of the at least one substrate transport container so that the at least one detector detects both presence and at least one predetermined characteristic of the at least one substrate transport container on the substrate transport container support.

14. The substrate loading device of claim 1 wherein the resiliently flexible section forms a portion of an outer surface of the cover.

15. A substrate loading device comprising:

a frame adapted for connecting the device to a substrate processing apparatus, the frame having a transport opening through which substrates are transported between the device and processing apparatus; and

a substrate transport container support connected to the frame for holding at least one substrate transport container, the substrate transport container support comprising

a cover covering at least a portion of the substrate transport container support, on which portion the at least one substrate transport container is seated, and

at least one detector for detecting when the at least one substrate transport container is on the substrate transport container support,

wherein the cover is of unitary construction and has a resiliently flexible tab, and wherein the at least one detector comprises a protruding member mounted to and protruding from the resiliently flexible tab where the resiliently flexible tab is configured to position the protruding member relative to a respective sensor of the at least one detector so as to be directly sensed by the respective sensor, for effecting detection, with the detector, of the at least one substrate transport container, in contact with the protruding member, on the substrate transport container support.

16. The device according to claim 15 , further comprising at least another detector connected to the cover for detecting when the at least one substrate transport container is in the substrate transport container support, wherein the cover has another resiliently flexible tab and the at least another detector has another protruding member mounted to the other resiliently flexible tab.

17. The device according to claim 15 , wherein the resiliently flexible tab is resiliently deflected when the substrate transport container is supported by the substrate transport container support.

18. The device according to claim 15 , wherein the at least one detector is an optical detector.

19. The device according to claim 15 , wherein the at least one detector is arranged so that the at least one detector cooperates with at least one information pad of the at least one substrate transport container so that the at least one detector detects both presence and at least one predetermined characteristic of the at least one substrate transport container on the substrate transport container support.
