Abstract

Pharmaceutically active benzofuran compositions for the treatment of mental disorders or for mental enhancement, including for entactogenic therapy. The present invention also includes benzofuran compounds, compositions, and methods for generally modulating central nervous system activity and treating central nervous system disorders.

Claims (60)

1. An isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of the S-enantiomer and R-enantiomer of a pair of enantiomers of Formula A, Formula B, Formula C, Formula D, Formula E, or Formula F below, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or mixed salt thereof, wherein the isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture has between 65% and 85% S-enantiomer:

wherein:

R is hydrogen;

R A is —CH 3 ,

Q is selected from;

and

Y is F.

2. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the pair of enantiomers is selected from those in a) through h) below:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

3. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 2 that has between 70% and 85% S-enantiomer.

4. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 2 that has between 70% and 80% S-enantiomer.

5. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

6. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

7. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

8. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

9. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

10. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

11. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

12. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 1 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

An isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of the S-enantiomer and R-enantiomer of a pair of enantiomers of Formula A, Formula B, Formula C, Formula D, Formula E, or Formula F below, or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or mixed salt thereof, wherein the isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture has between 65% and 85% R-enantiomer:

R A is —CH 3 , —CH 2 Y, —CHY 2 , —CY 3 , —CH 2 CH 3 , —CH 2 CH 2 Y, —CH 2 CHY 2 , —CH 2 CY 3 , —CH 2 OH, or —CH 2 CH 2 OH;

Q is selected from:

and

Y is F.

14. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 13 , wherein the pair of enantiomers is selected from those in a) through h) below:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

15. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 14 that has between 70% and 85% R-enantiomer.

16. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 14 that has between 70% and 80% R-enantiomer.

17. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 13 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

18. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 13 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

19. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 13 , wherein the mixture comprises

24. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 13 , wherein the mixture comprises

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

25. An isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of the S-enantiomer and R-enantiomer of a pair of enantiomers selected from those in a) through h) below, wherein the isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture has between 60% and 90% S- or R-enantiomer:

or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or a mixed salt thereof.

26. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 25 that has at least 60% R-enantiomer.

27. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 25 that has at least 60% S-enantiomer.

28. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 25 that has at least 70% R-enantiomer.

29. The isolated enantiomerically enriched mixture of claim 25 that has at least 70% S-enantiomer.
