Abstract

A composition for lubricant formulations is disclosed. The composition may include hypochlorite, dimethicone, and an emulsifier for improvement of lubricity. Methods of making and using the lubricant formulations are also disclosed.

Claims (17)

1 . A method of inhibiting a microbial infection, the method comprising:

providing a lubricant comprising:

an electrolyzed saline solution;

a rheology modifier; and

a polymeric organosilicon compound; and

applying the lubricant to a microbial infection; and wherein the rheology modifier comprises sodium magnesium silicate.

2 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the infection is a viral infection.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the viral infection comprises an HIV, HSV, or HBV infection.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the infection is a bacterial infection.

5 . The method of claim 4 , wherein the bacterial infection comprises a chlamydia, gonorrhoeae, Gardnerella, Mycoplasma , or Campylobacter infection.

6 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the infection is a fungal infection.

7 . The method of claim 6 , wherein the fungal infection is caused by one or more species of yeast of the Candida genus.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein the species of yeast of the Candida genus is selected from the group consisting of Candida albicans, Candida dubliniensis, Candida parapsilosis, Candida tropicalis, Candida kerfyr, Candida guilliermondii, Candida inconspicua, Candida famata, Candida glabrata, Candida krusei, Candida lusitaniae , and combinations thereof.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the electrolyzed saline solution comprises hypochlorite present in an amount of about 10 to about 300 ppm.

10 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric organosilicon compound is dimethicone.

11 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the polymeric organosilicon compound is present in an amount of about 0.5% to about 50% w/v.

12 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the rheology modifier comprises sodium magnesium silicate present in an amount of about 0.1% to about 15% w/v.
