Abstract

A system is disclosed. The system may include a receiver or transmitter node. The receiver or transmitter node may include a communications interface with an antenna element. A controller may include one or more processors and have information of own node velocity and own node orientation relative to a common reference frame. The receiver or transmitter node may be time synchronized to apply Doppler corrections to signals, the Doppler corrections associated with the receiver or transmitter node's own motions relative to the common reference frame, the Doppler corrections applied using Doppler null steering along Null directions. The system may be configured to, via the Doppler null steering, flood a communication data packet to a destination node based on a spatial awareness. The system may limit the flooding to only be towards the destination node and/or for a maximum number of hops.

Claims (43)

1 . A system comprising:

a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET) comprising a transmitter node and a receiver node, wherein each node of the transmitter node and the receiver node comprises:

a communications interface comprising at least one antenna element; and

a controller operatively coupled to the communications interface, the controller including one or more processors, wherein the controller has information of own node velocity and own node orientation;

wherein each node of the transmitter node and the receiver node are in motion relative to each other,

wherein each node of the transmitter node and the receiver node are time synchronized to apply Doppler corrections associated with said node's own motions relative to a common reference frame, wherein the transmitter node is configured to apply the Doppler corrections to signals using Doppler null steering along a plurality of Null directions based on the transmitter node's own motions,

wherein the common reference frame is known to the transmitter node and the receiver node prior to the transmitter node transmitting the signals to the receiver node and prior to the receiver node receiving the signals from the transmitter node,

wherein, based on a spatial awareness of the MANET determined via the signals based on the Doppler null steering, the system is configured to:

flood a communication data packet to a destination node based on the spatial awareness.

2 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the spatial awareness comprises a relative position between the receiver node and the transmitter node, wherein the relative position comprises a bearing angle and a range.

3 . The system of claim 1 , wherein the flooding comprises a scoped flooding characterized as a directional flooding.

4 . The system of claim 3 , wherein, based on the spatial awareness of the MANET, each hop of the scoped flooding is configured to only transmit the communication data packet if a transmission angle is towards the destination node such that the communication data packet is only configured to get closer to the destination node with each hop.

5 . The system of claim 3 , wherein the scoped flooding is based on a maximum hop count.

6 . The system of claim 5 , wherein the system is configured to stop transmitting the communication data packet when a tracked number of hops is equal to the maximum hop count.

7 . The system of claim 6 , wherein each node of the system is configured to incrementally increase the tracked number of hops associated with the communication data packet when transmitting the communication data packet.

8 . A system comprising:

a receiver node configured to be used in a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), the receiver node comprising:

a communications interface comprising at least one antenna element; and

a controller operatively coupled to the communications interface, the controller including one or more processors, wherein the controller has information of own node velocity and own node orientation relative to a common reference frame;

wherein the receiver node is time synchronized to apply Doppler corrections associated with the receiver node's own motions relative to the common reference frame,

wherein the common reference frame is known to the receiver node prior to the receiver node receiving signals from a transmitter node,

wherein the receiver node is configured to process the signals according to the Doppler corrections to the signals applied using Doppler null steering along a plurality of Null directions based on the transmitter node's own motions,

wherein, based on a spatial awareness of the MANET determined via the signals based on the Doppler null steering, the receiver node is configured to:

flood a communication data packet to a destination node based on the spatial awareness.

9 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the spatial awareness comprises a relative position between the receiver node and the transmitter node, wherein the relative position comprises a bearing angle and a range.

10 . The system of claim 8 , wherein the flooding comprises a scoped flooding characterized as a directional flooding.

11 . The system of claim 10 , wherein, based on the spatial awareness of the MANET, each hop of the scoped flooding is configured to only transmit the communication data packet if a transmission angle is towards the destination node such that the communication data packet is only configured to get closer to the destination node with each hop.

12 . The system of claim 11 , wherein the scoped flooding is based on a maximum hop count.

13 . The system of claim 12 , wherein the system is configured to stop transmitting the communication data packet when a tracked number of hops is equal to the maximum hop count.

14 . The system of claim 13 , wherein each node of the system is configured to incrementally increase the tracked number of hops associated with the communication data packet when transmitting the communication data packet.

15 . A system comprising:

a transmitter node configured to be used in a mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), the transmitter node comprising:

a communications interface comprising at least one antenna element; and

a controller operatively coupled to the communications interface, the controller including one or more processors, wherein the controller has information of own node velocity and own node orientation relative to a common reference frame;

wherein the transmitter node is time synchronized to apply Doppler corrections associated with the transmitter node's own motions relative to the common reference frame, wherein the transmitter node is configured to apply the Doppler corrections to signals using Doppler null steering along a plurality of Null directions based on the transmitter node's own motions,

wherein the common reference frame is known to the transmitter node prior to the transmitter node transmitting the signals,

wherein, based on a spatial awareness of the MANET determined via the signals based on the Doppler null steering, the transmitter node is configured to:

flood a communication data packet to a destination node based on the spatial awareness.

16 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the spatial awareness comprises a relative position between a receiver node and the transmitter node, wherein the relative position comprises a bearing angle and a range.

17 . The system of claim 15 , wherein the flooding comprises a scoped flooding characterized as a directional flooding.

18 . The system of claim 17 , wherein, based on the spatial awareness of the MANET, each hop of the scoped flooding is configured to only transmit the communication data packet if a transmission angle is towards the destination node such that the communication data packet is only configured to get closer to the destination node with each hop.

19 . The system of claim 18 , wherein the scoped flooding is based on a maximum hop count.

20 . The system of claim 19 , wherein the system is configured to stop transmitting the communication data packet when a tracked number of hops is equal to the maximum hop count.
