Abstract

In a rotor for a fluid pump which is made radially compressible and expandable and has a hub and at least one conveying element which has a plurality of struts and at least one membrane which can be spanned between them, provision is made for a design in accordance with the invention which is as simple and inexpensive as possible that at least one first group of struts is pivotable in a pivot plane, starting from a common base, and can thus be spanned open in the manner of a fan, wherein the conveying element lies along the hub and contacts it over its full length in the expanded state to avoid a pressure loss at the margin of the conveying element between it and the hub and thus to realize an optimum efficiency.

Claims (19)

1 . A radially compressible and expandable rotor for an intravascular blood pump, the rotor comprising:

a hub including at least a first cutout; and

at least a first conveying element for conveying blood, the first conveying element including a first plurality of struts coupled to the hub,

wherein the first plurality of struts are pivotable relative to the hub from a closed configuration into an open configuration, and

wherein each strut of the first plurality of struts is at least partly received in the first cutout in the closed configuration,

wherein at least one strut of the first plurality of struts has a first portion extending over a first length of the at least one strut and a second portion extending from the first portion over a second length of the at least one strut, wherein the second portion extends at an angle relative to the first portion,

wherein the first portion extends within a pivot plane of the at least one strut and the second portion extends out of the pivot plane.

2 . The rotor of claim 1 , further comprising a second conveying element for conveying blood, the second conveying element including a second plurality of struts coupled to the hub and pivotable relative to the hub from the closed configuration into the open configuration.

3 . The rotor of claim 2 , wherein the first and second conveying elements are disposed opposite one another at a periphery of the hub.

4 . The rotor of claim 3 , wherein the hub includes a second cutout and each strut of the second plurality of struts is at least partly received in the second cutout in the closed configuration.

5 . The rotor of claim 4 , wherein the first and second cutouts are connected to one another in a throughgoing manner and form a passage opening of the hub.

6 . The rotor of claim 1 , wherein the first conveying element includes a membrane coupled to the first plurality of struts.

7 . The rotor of claim 6 , wherein the membrane is inclined at least sectionally with respect to a rotor axis in the open configuration.

8 . The rotor of claim 1 , further comprising a shaft coupled to the hub, wherein each strut of the first plurality of struts is pivotably mounted on the shaft.

9 . The rotor of claim 8 , wherein the shaft is disposed within the first cutout of the hub.

10 . The rotor of claim 1 , wherein the first plurality of struts are connected to one another by film hinges at their base.

11 . The rotor of claim 1 , wherein one or more struts of the plurality of struts have different lengths.

12 . The rotor of claim 1 , wherein the first conveying element covers an angle of about 180 degrees in the open configuration.

13 . The rotor of claim 1 , wherein the first conveying element lies along the hub and contacts the hub in the open configuration.
