Abstract

A glass composition includes greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO 2 ; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al 2 O 3 ; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O; greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 25 mol % Na 2 O; greater than or equal to 0.1 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % K 2 O; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO; greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO; and greater than or equal to 0.005 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % Au.

Claims (43)

1. A glass composition comprising:

greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO 2 ;

greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al 2 O 3 ;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O;

greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 25 mol % Na 2 O;

greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO;

greater than or equal to 0.01 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % Fe 2 O 3 ; and

Au, wherein the Au in the glass composition is less than or equal to 0.5 mol %.

2. The glass composition of claim 1 , comprising greater than or equal to 61 mol % and less than or equal to 83 mol % SiO 2 .

3. The glass composition of claim 1 , comprising greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O.

4. The glass composition of claim 1 , comprising less than or equal to 23 mol % Na 2 O.

5. The glass composition of claim 1 , comprising less than or equal to 9 mol % CaO.

6. The glass composition of claim 1 , comprising greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % SnO 2 .

7. A glass article, comprising the glass composition of claim 1 , wherein the glass article comprises an average number of Au particles of less than or equal to 5,000 particles/mm 3 .

8. The glass article of claim 7 , wherein the glass article is colored.

9. A glass composition comprising:

greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO 2 ;

greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al 2 O 3 ;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O;

greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO;

greater than or equal to 0.01 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % Fe 2 O 3 ; and

Au, wherein the Au in the glass composition is less than or equal to 0.5 mol %.

10. The glass composition of claim 9 , comprising greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O.

11. A glass article, comprising the glass composition of claim 9 , wherein the glass article comprises an average number of Au particles of less than or equal to 5,000 particles/mm 3 .

12. The glass article of claim 11 , wherein the glass article is colored.

13. A glass composition comprising:

greater than or equal to 60 mol % and less than or equal to 85 mol % SiO 2 ;

greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % Al 2 O 3 ;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O;

greater than or equal to 0.5 mol % and less than or equal to 25 mol % Na 2 O;

greater than or equal to 0.1 mol % and less than or equal to 20 mol % K 2 O;

greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % CaO;

greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 10 mol % MgO; and

Au, wherein the Au in the glass composition is less than or equal to 0.5 mol %.

14. The glass composition of claim 13 , comprising greater than or equal to 61 mol % and less than or equal to 83 mol % SiO 2 .

15. The glass composition of claim 13 , comprising greater than or equal to 2 mol % and less than or equal to 15 mol % Li 2 O.

16. The glass composition of claim 13 , comprising less than or equal to 23 mol % Na 2 O.

17. The glass composition of claim 13 , comprising less than or equal to 9 mol % CaO.

18. The glass composition of claim 13 , comprising greater than or equal to 0 mol % and less than or equal to 0.5 mol % SnO 2 .

19. A glass article, comprising the glass composition of claim 13 , wherein the glass article comprises an average number of Au particles of less than or equal to 5,000 particles/mm 3 .

20. The glass article of claim 19 , wherein the glass article is colored.
